It is with a deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved colleague Stephen Simmons. 

With 30+ years in the restaurant business, Stephen met and exceeded client expectations whether it was a white tablecloth venue, popular neighborhood diner or high volume production line catering. 

 

He owned three successful restaurants and was a partner in two others. He ran the gamut from opening chef at One Market to chef de cuisine at Michelin recognized Birch & Rye with a 15 year stint in between running the food operations at Skywalker Ranch. 

 

Stephen began his career under acclaimed chefs  Mark Franz and Bradley Ogden and was named a “Rising Star” by the James Beard Foundation. He moved up through the ranks of several prominent hotels before venturing out on his own. He bought and revitalized the popular Bubba’s Diner in Marin County and launched both a full service grill and the chic Lincoln Wine Bar to critical acclaim. 

 

Level headed and calm, Stephen offered Full Plate clients a comprehensive and professional range of skills, with great attention to detail in a manner that was easy to digest no matter what position you held in the kitchen. He loss is incomparable and he will be sorely missed.
